2 Cars in 24 Hours

>> Friday, November 30, 2007

There’s some bad news to report in the Phamie/Steve-in-a-Speedo household. Sometime on Wednesday night or early Friday morning, somone stole Stephs car (Pharmie’s sister) from the street in front of our house. Bam. Gone. Horrible news.

Then, last night (Thursday), I was helping out at the College of Visual Arts. I was volunteering to help get ready for a Holiday Art Sale that will be going on next weekend. Pharmie and I had swapped cars for the day. I walked out into the parking lot at 8 pm, and her car was gone. Bam. Again. F*ck.

Two of the 3 cars of our household were stolen within 24 hours. I LOVE St. Paul, but this sucks. Jon, Stephs SUPER boyfriend, has been our sherpa for the past day. He drove us around this morning to take care of our business. Some of that business was picking up Pharmies car from the MPLS impound lot. It was picked up early this morning. Two people were driving it. They were both arrested. They left 2 forty ounce bottles of beer and a half-eaten hot dog on the seat as "thanks" for "borrowing" the car. Classy, I know. The car has some decent damage, but it’s still drivable.

Yuck. I don’t know if I’m looking forward to or dreading the 5K tomorrow. Either it’s the perfect medicine, or it’s just another thing on the already busy adgenda. I’m REALLY hoping to see a few of you out there. Here’s to a good run, and a better weekend!!

p.s. My childhood icon, Evel Knievel, passed away today. I’ll be running the Reindeer Run tomorrow with him in mind – with every stride, I’ll visualize jumping 14 Greyhound buses on a dirtbike.

I too am mourning the loss of Evel. Next time I venture to my mothers I need to see if I have still have any my Evel toys.

As you are visually jumping the 14 buses, make sure you land on the f**ksticks that stole your cars.

Wow, Steve, that bites. What are the odds of that happening twice in 24 hours?

At least you got one of them back.. but thats all the optimism I can offer. I hope the other one turns up.

Good luck at the race tomorrow!

Ya, I'm also bummed that Freakin Evel Knievel died. He was the king of promotion -- I read were he said he made 60 million and spent 61 million -- sounds like Evel Knievel.

Unbelievable that two cars got ripped -- not good.

Enjoy the 5k -- it'll make all things better...

Dude that is total and complete SUCKAGE!! Sorry homie!

Tracy 8:08 PM, November 30, 2007

Holy crap! Man, OK bright side here though is insurance will likely pay for the damage, and at least you got it back right? But no news on the other car huh?

OK you know that Chinese farmer story? So there's this Chinese farmer whose son runs off one day, the whole village comes out to mourn his bad luck with him. A few days later his son comes back with a strong young horse who can now help on the farm. The whole village again comes out, but this time to celebrate his good luck.

The boy the next day tries to ride the wild horse and gets thrown, breaking his leg and so now can't help on the farm. The village, the mourning, you got it.

The army comes to the village the very next day drafting up all the young men to go to war...

The moral of the story... who's to say what is good luck and bad luck.

You never know my friend, could be the best thing that's ever happened to you guys. Chin up ;)

DUDE!

That totally sux. Best of luck in the race. I'm sure the spirit of Evel and the anger of those stupiedheads stealing your cars will propel you to your sub-19 finish.

Dude, where' your car? (Sorry, hard to resist)

Sorry to hear about that, hopefully it all balances out - like how you got the first one back already.

Just use it as motivation tomorrow during the race - pretend you're running after the car (Note: Do not confuse mental car with real car - or you might somehow get runover...which would be kinda messy).

What??? That is crazy!
I think that means you need 2 new cars......
Good luck with the Evel Knievel 5K.

Oh man, that sucks about the two cars.

Good luck at the race tomorrow. Run out all of your frustrations.

weird. Very weird.

the car stealing thing. Classy of the perps to leave you 1/2 a hotdog, no?
was it the same people stealing both cars?

Evel Knievel dying at 69? Of course he did - except that like you, I was sure he was unkillable. Very sad.

And good luck.

Man that sucks!!! Don't even get me started on bad things happening to good people. You work hard, pay your taxes and some lazy ass jerkoff decided to take something that's not his.......sucks.

holy smokes! that stinks!

i guess the good news is that you got one of the cars back. makes it easier to get around.

hope the 5K is fun. :)

That is a major Bummer about the cars. Did you have to pay to get it out of impound too?

We would have made it to the reindeer run but we had family pictures today! ?

CoachLiz 6:01 PM, December 02, 2007

Wow, I wonder if you were followed to the parking lot when your other car was stolen? I hate to hear that news but at least you and Steph have your health and you and Pharmie have each other. That is what is important

Man, that sucks! Sorry to hear about that ... makes me a little nervous since I'm not too far away from your neck of the woods.

Glad to hear that you guys are all fine though, and that you got one of the cars back. Hope the other one turns up, and again, sorry to hear about that.

ShirleyPerly 11:39 AM, December 04, 2007

Bummer ... I had my car stolen when I was in the San Diego area going to grad school. The cops found it a month later with 10,000 miles and it was pretty much totaled (transmission shot, tires bald, inside compartments all messed up -- obviously used for drug running). Glad the one that was found is still drivable.

Dan Seifring aka "OBRATS" 5:48 AM, December 05, 2007

Dude that does suck. Hope for better things ahead for you.
