New Balance “Anti-Stink” Shirt Giveaway

>> Tuesday, July 06, 2010

I wrote about the New Balance “NBx Emissive Long Sleeve” shirt last week as part of my “Does It Work” series. (Click here to see that post.) I was skeptical that a shirt could have silver woven into it to keep it from getting funky, but I really think it works! Well, the people at New Balance now want me to giveaway one of the NBx Emissive shirts on my blog!

Here are some photos from this spring where I ran a 5K PR and a half marathon PR* in my NBx Emissive:

* No, this shirt cannot guarantee PRs. Come on, people. You know better.

And here’s a better picture of the shirt:

Bottom Line: it’s comfortable, it keeps the funk away, it held up GREAT for a half marathon, Pharmie thinks it’s cozy, and I think it’s a great shirt. To see more info on the shirt, click here to see last week’s post.

THE GOOD NEWS: The people at New Balance have a shirt they want me to give away. THE BAD NEWS: They only have men’s shirts right now. Women can TOTALLY enter, but if you win, you’ll have to decide if you want to try to fit into a men’s shirt (which might be “cut” differently than a woman’s shirt), or if you want to give the shirt to a nearby man. It’s totally up to you. If you’re a woman who has smaller boobs than me (and I know there are plenty of you out there), then a men’s version of this shirt will fit you just fine. But if you’ve a woman who’s been “blessed,” then it’s your call. If you win, you might want to give the shirt to the man in your life. You don’t have to decide now.

HERE’S HOW TO ENTER TO WIN:

These are the rules. They couldn’t be easier.

Step 1: Comment on this post to be entered.

Step 2: Check back next Monday or Tuesday to see if you’ve won.

See? Couldn’t be easier. Oh, but a little amendment to Step 1: You do NOT need to be a blogger, but make sure to leave some specific info so you’ll know if you won. So you could say something like this: “Hey Steve, this John Smith from Topeka, and I want that shirt! Thanks!”

The fine print:
- Contest only open to US residents. Sorry America’s Hat Canada.
- You may comment now (on THIS post) through 10 pm Central time on Saturday, July 10th. The winner will be contacted late on Sunday or Monday.
- The winner will be chosen at random by a random number generator or by drawing numbers out of a hat.
- Check back this Monday or Tuesday (July 12 or 13) to see if you won! (Especially if you don’t have a blogger account because I have no way of contacting you.)
- If I don’t hear back from the winner within 2 days after posting that they’ve won, I’ll draw another name and give the shirt to someone else.
- And because I can make up the rules, I MIGHT give some people an extra entry if they leave a real witty, funny, or crazy comment. Maybe. ;)

Thanks New Balance for the great shirt!! So comment below to be entered!!! Thanks everyone!

First! Ok, seriously, can a woman wear this shirt comfortably? If not, then don't put me in the running...

I love your "does it work" series. Because of this, i am willing to try different things that you talk about.

Have a great week!

FIRST!
That should be good for 2 entries right?

Ms. Caddywumpus 8:19 AM, July 06, 2010

I'm not eligible because of my apparent "affliction" of being Canadian. Boo urns!

Nice anti-stink shirt, though. I'd totally stretch it out but in a good way.

Good luck everyone!

Paleo Dan 8:19 AM, July 06, 2010

Give it to me! Give it to me! I'm so damned tired of doing laundry that I'm thinking of replacing my whole wardrobe with antimicrobial/antistink clothing.

So, send the shirt to Paleo Dan out in Va Beach.

Sean 8:20 AM, July 06, 2010

I'll give it a real test. After a run in 99deg 99% humidity Florida the funk coming off your is incredible ;)

Hey Steve, Mark from New Haven, CT - I need this shirt cause I have a tendency to stink (during runs)...just ask my wife or anyone thats within a 1/2 mile radius of me at a race.

Pahla 8:46 AM, July 06, 2010

Hi Steve, P from Adventures of an Average Athlete here! Even though my boobs are probably smaller than yours, I'm entering to win the shirt for my dear husband. :-)

Katie 8:49 AM, July 06, 2010

Hey Steve-- Katie K. from St. Paul. I totally get that it's not up to you what you give away, but I'm ready for your PR people to have some women's gear!! Oh well, if I win, I'll give the shirt to Matt. Will I really be the first comment?? I may not be witty enough to earn an extra entry, but I did share my umbrella with you this weekend to keep your camera dry -- that's got to be worth something, no?

Trevor Helmers 8:56 AM, July 06, 2010

Hey Steve, I'd love to be entered in the drawing for the shirt! Thanks! Trevor from New Hope.

Unknown 8:58 AM, July 06, 2010

Pick me, pick me! :)

YNWASteve,  9:00 AM, July 06, 2010

I am a bigger dude and probably rocking a solid B cup, so it should still fit. As such, I have great need for a shirt that can mask my workout aroma. Pick me.

Steve Miller 9:04 AM, July 06, 2010

Oh man, I don't just want this shirt, I need it. I have to do a separate load of laundry with just my workout clothes so they don't stink up the rest of our clothes. I have to take my workout clothes straight to the laundry room because they make our bedroom stink if I leave them in the hamper. A shirt like this could be a Marriage saver.

blonderunner 9:07 AM, July 06, 2010

Hi Steve. I would love to try the shirt - even if I am a women and you only have mens. I'd like to see if it really keeps the funk away. BTW - this is Lora Erickson aka Blonde Runner. Great blog!

Kristen 9:09 AM, July 06, 2010

Anti-funk? I want to test it out...or have my DH test it...he does smell worse most days.

Anonymous,  9:10 AM, July 06, 2010

Ken Davis 9:53 AM, July 06, 2010

Hey Steve! My wife thinks all of my running shirts stink. A non-stink running shirt would make her happy. And you know the saying, "happy wife, happy life".

Kris 9:53 AM, July 06, 2010

Yeah, so I'm not a guy. But I'm a super sweater so I'd love to try out the anti-stink shirt.....and sadly, yeah, I won't have a problem with the chest fitting in the shirt.

Hey Steve! Let me just say that the shirt looks AWESOME on you and will hopefully look just as awesome on me, even though my 'chest protuberances' are larger than yours! Melanie from Mount Joy

Unknown 11:56 AM, July 06, 2010

hmmmm anti-stink has a good ring to it, could make for a great placebo for the next 5k pr even if you can't guarantee it!

FinnyKnits 12:02 PM, July 06, 2010

I bet my husband could give this shirt's anti-stinkness a run for its money.

Do shirts have money?

I don't know. But my husband has stink and his cycling jersey is getting rank, so he would probably love this.

Michelle 12:02 PM, July 06, 2010

Ooooohhhh - pick me, pick me, pick me!!!!! While I am cute as a BUTTON, I am a sweater. In fact, I come from a long, proud line of sweaters. And with sweat, comes stink. I NEED an anti-stink shirt to keep me in total balance with my cuteness!!!!! I mean, really. Cute but smelly is really NOT right. ;)

SwimBekiSwim 12:06 PM, July 06, 2010

I'm willing to squish my boobs into a men's shirt (it's depressing what a sports bra is capable of doing...)! But let me know when they come up with anti-sweat!

-Beki, from Lansing MI

Scott Cannon 12:18 PM, July 06, 2010

I saw that the shirt fights off athlete's foot fungus. Now I know that some people have smelly feet, but I don't think buying a shirt is going to help. I don't have athlete's foot but I would like to have that shirt, so throw me in the hat, please.

David,  12:46 PM, July 06, 2010

Tricia 2:04 PM, July 06, 2010

the shirt sounds great

I'm a bit disappointed in its lack of PRing qualities...but I guess its anti stink claim makes up for that

Audrey 2:45 PM, July 06, 2010

Three weeks ago I met a runner at a post-race party and he gave me a bike ride home on his bike pegs and then later we were chatting and I asked when his b-day was and it's later this summer and so is mine so either he or I started making a present list that got left blank (maybe we got pre-occupied) so I have no present ideas listed for him so THIS WOULD TOTALLY WORK! Please enter me.

Unknown 3:13 PM, July 06, 2010

Hey Steve! I'm a woman who's been "blessed" and I would be happy to test out the men's shirt for women. Besides, I need something to keep me stink-free so that the man in my life will stay by my side!

I know a man (whose name isn't Stan)
Who doesn't have much running gear.

I think he'd look good in this shirt with no hood,
And keep up with his running all year.

So please count me in the contest to win
this awesome shirt for my friend.

It's after 4 and I'm starting to snore
So I think it's time to go vend.

RunningLaur 10:49 AM, July 07, 2010

While my fiance doesn't stink, it couldn't hurt to clad him in anti-stink wear!

Isela 11:34 AM, July 07, 2010

Anti-stink clothing is just the thing that my hubby needs! Some days I have to tell him to just please deposit his smelly running clothing outside or just to directly take them off as soon as he comes in through the door and drop them in the laundry.

I have been well endowed so I know that it won't fit my babes but if I won it, I would give it to my hubby for sure!

Carla @ I Run, You Run 11:26 AM, July 08, 2010

My fiance could totally use this. Not because he gets stinky after a run. Noooo... Not at all...

I must win, for I have traded my Brooks Beasts in for NB 1001's, and bought NB socks. But all my running shirts are Brooks. I won't match unless I win!

Steve - I live in Florida. Grand Central Station for sweat. No matter what month of the year. I stink so bad it would gag a maggot. Help me out. I need the shirt!

Ooh I hope I win - sign me up!! Despite being a girl, I'd totally wear it. I'm avoiding the stink just as much as the next runner!! Also, I hate doing laundry.

Nelson 3:29 PM, July 09, 2010

Hey Steve, this Nelson from Connecticut, and I want that shirt! Thanks!

Seriously though, I know what a f/1.4 prime is. I have a canon 50mm f/1.4 prime and it is my favorite lens ever.

Do I get an extra entry for being camera cewl?

Brett 11:34 PM, July 09, 2010
